IMG_0658Well it’s been a while since I’ve put a post on here.  In fact, it looks like the last time I posted anything on this blog was December of 2010…but to be fair, I’ve had a lot going on in the last two years.

I got engaged towards the end of my last blog (in November of 2010) and spent the next year and a half planning the wedding with Allyse.  We finally got married in July of 2012 and have been loving married life ever since!  Things have been great so far and we are certainly enjoying our free time now that we don’t have a wedding to be planning!  Shortly after the wedding, we moved to Wauwatosa to a brand new apartment complex and our friend Merrick has moved in with us as well.  We’ve recently started looking for our first house.  It’s been a lot of fun, but as first time homebuyers, it is really overwhelming!  I will be sure to write about any updates that we have in the coming weeks/months!

As for highlights of 2012, I would say getting married would be at the top of the list.  But some of our other accomplishments were notable too, Allyse celebrated one year as an HVAC Design Engineer at Monroe Equipment.  She also passed the FE exam, so she is now officially an Engineer-in-Training and one step closer to becoming a licensed engineer!  Now she’s the smarty pants in this relationship….I started a new job in August as a Revit Specialist at Interior Systems, Inc.  I’ve really enjoyed my time there, and I’m really looking forward to some exciting things there next year!

2012 also was the year I discovered cycling.  I had always enjoyed biking, but finally broke down and bought a nice road bike at the end of 2011, so 2012 was the first year I was able to really spend a lot of time on the road.  I logged a little over 850 miles last year, which included the 25 mile UPAF Ride for the Arts which I did with my sister, Kristen.  It was a lot of fun and we’re looking forward to doing it again this year!  In fact, I set a personal goal of riding 1000 miles this year on my bike.  I’ll have to keep you all posted with the status of that as the year progresses, but I think it’s a pretty realistic goal.

Anyways, I think I’m going to give it another go this year, and try to do another 52 week photo project.  I will (hopefully) post one photo a week for an entire year; I had a lot of fun with this project last time around, so here’s hoping for another successful experiment!  This first picture of 2013 is not technically from the last week, but was a cool picture so I’m using it anyways.  I got to spend Christmas with my in-laws this year, and we took a trip to Cabo San Lucas in Baja California.  We had a blast down there, and the weather was beautiful for most of the time we were there (70s and sunny while it was in the single digits back home in Wisconsin).  This is the beach in front of our resort, and it looked like this most of the time we were down there…simply perfect!

Thanks for reading, and please check back every so often to check on the progress of my 52 week project!
