Opening Doors…{four}

Blue Door

I walk past this door every day on the way to work, and each day I think about how it would make a cool picture.  Something about the contrast of the bright blue door against an all white, worn down building – it really stands out.  There’ve been some late nights at work the last few weeks, and it’s been crazy.  I work at Interior Systems and for the past four months, we’ve been doing a project for one of our biggest clients, McDonalds.  We’ve been working to standardize their restaurant designs for all new construction and renovated stores, to reflect the rebranded image that McDonalds is adapting.  We created 16 unique designs that will be used in their restaurants going forward.  It was really quite an honor for the firm to win a project of this size, and the designers at McDonalds were thrilled with the work we produced.  It was one of the most satisfying project I’ve ever had a chance to be a part of, and I’m glad that we were able to pull all our efforts together.  So for the next few weeks, we have a little bit of downtime before we get back into cranking our normal projects again.  With all the projections from the higher-ups in the company, 2013 is sure to be a great year!

This weekend, we went up to Allyse’s parent’s house and cleaned and painted Allyse’s old bedroom.  She had painted it before college and it was green and purple striped.  So her parents decided that since she and I have been looking for a house, it was about time to update her room and make it the new guest bedroom that we can stay in when we visit.  We painted all the walls and the ceiling, cleaned the carpet, and got a big pile of things to take to Goodwill.  All in all, a pretty successful weekend (besides my father-in-law coming down with a stomach bug)!

I’ve had a sinus infection for the past couple days, so I’ve been feeling pretty lousy myself.  Hopefully it passes in the next few days, because it’s really starting to get old.  That and the fact that there’s an ice storm rolling through right now…seems like a good night to have a cup of tea and check in early, so that’s what I think I’ll do tonight!  Have an excellent week!
